Efforts to manage public finances during the seven-month period ending July 31, 2016, have resulted in improvements in Central Government’s fiscal performances.
Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves gave an account of the Government’s fiscal performance for the period ending July 31, 2016, at a news conference held Tuesday morning.
The Prime Minister revealed that total revenues and grants for the period were EC$336.24 million dollars, up from EC$315 million for the comparable period last year, an increase of about 6.7 percent.
Dr. Gonsalves said, Current revenues for the year July 31, 2016, amounted to EC$327.7 million, about EC$27.7 million more than for the similar period last year.
The Prime Minister added that total expenditure of the Central Government fell marginally by one per cent from EC$332.8 million for the first seven months of this year, compared to EC$336 million for the first seven months in 2015.
He said despite these improvements things are still tight economically.
