A former resident of Georgetown has given back to the community with a donation of medical supplies and equipment.
The donation by Neil Corke, who resides in the United States, was handed over to the Georgetown Hospital at a ceremony facilitated by the Sutherland Family on Thursday April 13, 2017.
The supplies and equipment include two Commodes, a Wheel Chair, Adult Pampers, Scrubs for Nurses, Stethoscopes and Sterile Dressings.
Former Chief Personnel Officer and Cousin of Mr. Neil Corke, Tyrone Burke, said this not the first contribution that Corke has made to the Georgetown Community. Burke noted that in 2015, Corke hosted a Christmas Party for teachers and elders in the community, he also held a party for the children of the St. Benedicts Infant Hospital where he provided each child with a gift and also held a party for fifty children in the community.
“This is an individual who has a good spirit and a good heart and is desirous of making further contributions to Georgetown” Burke said.
He continued: “I believe that other persons are assisting him in America but he is the driver, the main person behind these gifts”, he said. Burke expressed gratitude to Mr. Corke for his donation to the Georgetown Hospital.
Health Nursing Supervisor of the Georgetown District, Glanderene Brown, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Health. Wellness and the Environment to Mr. Corke noting that she is grateful that he saw the need to partner with the Ministry in health care.
“As we all know health is a shared responsibility and the government alone is not responsible for health but each of us as individuals have that role to play as well” Sister Brown said.
