Telecommunications provider, Digicel SVG has answered the call made by the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for businesses to get on board and assist with efforts to clean-up and enhance capital city Kingstown.
The appeal for corporate entities to get on board and support this initiative was made by Minister of Transport, Works and Local Government- Senator Julian Francis, at a Town Hall meeting held with representatives of the Business sector at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown prior to this year’s Carnival.
To this end, Digicel SVG’s country manager- John Gidharry handed over a cheque for EC$50,000 to Minister of Transport, Works and Local Government- Senator Julian Francis at a ceremony this morning at the Ministry of Telecommunications Conference Room.
Mr. Gidharry said this decision to contribute to the clean-up of Kingstown is part of the company’s way of giving back to the community.
Meanwhile, Minister Francis expressed thanks to Digicel for the contribution and said it is the first corporate entity to come on board to support this initiative.
Minister Francis said a separate account will be created for all contributions made to the Kingstown Town Board Clean-up Campaign and the first deposit to the account will be the cheque for $50,000 from Digicel.
