Virgin Atlantic Non-Stop Flights from London Heathrow to Montego Bay to Boost UK Arrivals, says Bartlett
Minister of Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett has welcomed the announcement of Virgin Atlantic’s non-stop flight service between London Heathrow Airport and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay starting in Summer 2025, which will help to boost arrivals from this market. The non-stop route will provide direct connectivity between the UK and Jamaica’s tourism capital, making it faster and easier for British visitors to get to the island.
“This is an exciting development for Jamaica’s tourism industry which will make it even more seamless to get to the island” said Minister of Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett. “Securing this non-stop flight from a major hub like London Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic is a great addition and will substantially boost airlift and access to our destination. We expect this to translate into substantial increases in British visitor arrivals, supporting jobs and economic growth across Jamaica.”
The flight will operate 4 times weekly, and promotion has started to generate higher awareness around it.
“We are pleased to welcome this nonstop service that will provide additional options to get to Jamaica. As the number one Caribbean destination for British visitors, this is an ideal service that will appeal to many,” said Donovan White, Director of Tourism.
Arrivals from the United Kingdom to Jamaica have once again reached record-breaking levels with figures for Jan-June 2024 marking a significant 14% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This translated to over 100 thousand UK visitors to the island during the period.
