Hartin was charged with manslaughter over the death of Supt Henry Jemmott, whose lifeless body was found floating in the sea near San Pedro, Belize, on 28th May.
7News Belize “Police report that “based on an investigation conducted and directives received from the Director of Public Prosecution concerning the investigation into the shooting death of Superintendent Henry Jemmott, police formally arrested and charged Jasmine Suzanne Hartin, aged 32 yrs, Canadian Self-Employed of Sea Grape Drive, San Pedro Town for the Crime of Manslaughter by Negligence”.
Lord Ashcroft’s daughter-in-law was playing a ‘pistol game’ with Belize cop before he was shot dead, cops in the Central American nation said.
Belize’s police commissioner Chester Williams confirmed that Hartin had been alone with dad-of-five Jemmott and there is no indication a third person was involved.
“We have to look at the investigation with an open mind, but so far we have not had any indication to suggest that there was any third actor,” he said.
“In the absence of an explanation, she would have to be treated as the killer.” The officer was found with a fatal wound behind his right ear – with his gun nearby.
Police said the pair knew each other socially in Belize, Central America, where Jasmine and her husband Andrew head a luxury hotel company.
