It may have been a small gesture from some little boys, but a cash donation from the Melisizwe Brothers, is a big deal to the World Pediatric Project.
Last Friday July 8, the brothers, Mark, Zachary and Seth James, handed over $300 to Simon Carey and Sister Jacquline Browne-King of WPP Caribbean, during a brief and touching ceremony at the pediatric ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
The boys raised the funds on behalf of the WPP, at a concert held the week before on the visiting cruise ship Freewinds.
Following a tour of the pediatric ward, where the brothers interacted with patients and faculty, Zachary James passed over the funds to Carey.
They boys indicated it was a delight and honor to make the contribution to WPP, and pledged to continue to assist in any way they could.
Carey and Browne-King, Chief Development Officer and Eastern Caribbean Regional Representative respectively, thanked the brothers for the gesture, pointing out that every gesture is a step closer in assisting the organization to achieve its goal of saving the lives of children who may not be able to receive assistance on their own.
The WPP officials called on others to follow the example of the brothers, pointing out that donations do not necessarily have to be a lot, but it’s the thought that counts.
The Melisizwe Brothers have built a relationship with WPP over the past months, by hosting an overseas family that traveled to St Vincent for medical treatment from WPP, and has also performed at WPP organized functions.
The boys have been making a name for themselves with numerous performances around St Vincent and the Grenadines, which have been well received by all audiences.
