Pastor Nigel Morgan along with wife Althea and their daughter Krystal of Hopewell in the Marriaqua Valley has been ordered to be guests at Her Majesty’s Prison in SVG for the next four years.
They knew their fate on Monday, April 30th, 2018 after Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett found them guilty on a joint charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Cuthbert Victory from the community of Carriere on April 9th, 2016 at Hopewell.
The Court heard that on the date in question Victory who usually visits a friend at Hopewell, went to the area and began to play music, it was during such time that an argument developed into an altercation between Victory and Morgan.
His wife and their daughter Krystal who was at the family home, ran outside armed with a kettle of boiling hot water and poured the same upon Victory who was already in a gutter.
He is said to have sustained burns on his body.
Defence Counsel Kay Bacchus-Baptiste in mitigation requested a non-custodial sentence be handed down to the Morgans.
However Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche stated that the principles of the sentencing should reflect the seriousness of the crime and went on to make a strong plea for a custodial sentence.
Defence Counsel Bacchus-Baptiste stated that she will appeal the matter.
