The Mountain View Adventist Academy located in Richland Park, kicked off a week of activities On Sunday 14th January in commemoration of their 60th anniversary.
Speaking at the launch, principal of the institution Gabriel Bowman said the school have been in existence and delivering service for the past 60 years.
He said that could not have been done without the support of the community, he further stress that they might not have reached thus far by walking alone.
Biology teacher Leila Bowman who gave a brief history of the institution said, the school started as part of the Richland Park SDA church, however, over time became an island-wide educational institution, with support from all of the SDA churches across SVG.
On Sunday the school held a Health Fair from 10 am – 2 pm with remarks being made by staff members and area representative the Hon St Clair “Jimmy” Prince.
Activites for the rest of the week include:
Monday 15th: Special Assembly at the school
Tuesday 16th: Open day for past students and teachers along with a dinner at the Mt Moriah Youth Development Centre.
Wednesday 17th: Community Outreach program( Distribution of food baskets)
Thursday 18th: Career day ( with display booths with information on future career for students)
Friday 19th: Special Chapel session
Saturday 20th: Thanksgiving service at the Richland Park SDA church
Activities climaxes on Sunday 21st with a fun day at the Rawacou Recreation Park.
The Mountain View Adventist Academy began operating in 1958.
