QUALITY TEACHING AND LEADERSHIP NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says the issue of quality teaching and leadership in schools here needs to be addressed, since this plays a vital role in ensuring quality students outcomes academically.

He made the comment on Friday while delivering the feature address at the National Awards Ceremony held at the Kingstown Methodist Church Hall to recognize the scholastic achievement of students in the 2015 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examinations.

Prime Minister Gonsalves pointed out that research has shown that one year of quality teaching adds another year of educational value, likewise one year of leadership adds at least a half-year of educational value.
