Workers at the government registry in Kingstown abandoned their post temporarily on Tuesday morning due to rats in the facility.
It is not clear what the rodents were in search of, but workers could be seen huddling outside earlier in the morning.
Several search clerks confirmed the information to the St. Vincent Times.
At the time of publication, work had resumed.
Earlier this month, the Vector Unit within the Public Health Department embarked on a project to reduce the rodent population in Kingstown.
The unit is currently going through the city, placing baits in rodent burrows and providing public education and awareness.
