Deputy Principal and former President of the Teachers Union, Philbert P John says that Hypa 4000 winning the Soca Monarch competition is hollow since he did not face the then reigning champion, Gamal “Skinny Fabulous” Doyle.
Doyle has called it a day in competition, leaving both the Ragga Soca and Soca Monarch titles up for grabs since he was the defending champion in both categories.
John reasoned that if one cannot beat the best, then one should not rejoice, stating that such a victory is not a genuine one.
Meanwhile, John is taking issue with the CDC and its statement of not having any foreign artistes for shows the CDC organized.Speaking on the radio, John said the CDC would have gone back on its word, claiming that the organization brought in a foreign artiste to perform at the Miss Carival show by having Marlon Roudette, who is based in England.
John said Roudette was born in England and that his mother, Vonnie, was also not born in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
He then went on to state that Roudette spent all his time abroad and the Miss Carival pageant was his first performance here.
However, what John failed to mention was that Roduette had his schooling here before going back to the country of his birth and that he always made it known that his musical beginnings started in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Roudette is one of the country’s Cultural Ambassador and the holder of a Vincentian Diplomatic passport, given only to citizens of the country.
