With St Vincent and the Grenadines being extremely vulnerable to natural disasters and the impact of climate change, Environmental Protection has been provided with $69.9 million or 14.8 percent of the 2023 capital budget aimed at strengthening the country’s resilience to natural disasters.
Finance Minister Camilo Gonsalves in presenting the 2023 budget estimates says the country requires more resilient infrastructure, early warning systems, and the like to better protect the nation from climate-related disasters.
Gonsalves said the government continues to promote adaptation measures to protect communities and the natural environment to avoid loss of homes, livelihoods, and even lives.

Argyle Infrastructural Works $2.3 m
Sandy Bay Sea Defence Resilience Project $7.3 m
Purchase of Aggregate $1.0 m
Volcano Recovery and Reconstruction $2.7 m
Rehabilitation/Reconstruction of Roads, Bridges $2.2 m
Purchase of Bailey Bridges $1.5 m
Construction of Tyre Shredding Facility $1.3 m
South Winward Coastal Works Phase I $0.8 m
North Leeward Rehabilitation Programme $1.3 m
