A tired Luzette King spoke to a local media house this week “disheartened by the lack of support she has been receiving.” King who has been leading the protest on the ‘frontline’ outside the Supervisor of Elections office admitted she is frustrated.
Miss King who returned to SVG prior to the last general elections is the latest person associated with the NDP to become demoralized as the NDP has failed to win the hearts and minds of the general public including the majority of their supporters who have abandoned the protest actions.The once boisterous ‘We the People’ movement has also disappeared from the political scene locally.
Money seems to be a major contention among the protesters. Persons showing up have asked to be paid and be given daily food and transportation allowance. Miss King told the media that persons have walked away from the ‘frontline’ because they think she is benefiting financially from being in the forefront to their own disadvantage.
It has been 7 months since the December 9th general elections. NDP President and Leader of the Opposition Arnhim Eustace had promised massive protests and vowed the ULP government would not go past the 6 months mark. However, Eustace himself publicly criticized supporters of his party for being ‘all bark but no bite.’
Many NDP supporters including those in the Diaspora on a weekly basis express outrage on their Facebook pages by the lack of commitment by the NDP leadership and executive members who they claim are talking too much on the radio.
