PASSING OF BELOVED SINGER AND MUSICIAN, MORICIA CAGAN
Minister of Tourism Senator Randall Mitchell expresses deepest condolences to the family and friends on the untimely passing of beloved singer and musician, Moricia Cagan, today, March 24, 2025.
An influential figure in Trinidad and Tobago’s musical and cultural landscape, Cagan is remembered as a gifted vocalist and performer, who shared stages with some of the nation’s most revered musical icons, including Pelham Goddard, Black Stalin, Baron, and Carlton “Zanda” Alexander. Her immense contributions to local and international music have left an indelible mark on the industry, solidifying her legacy as a true cultural gem.
Cagan’s journey in the arts was one of resilience and triumph. Originally focused on an athletic career, a life-changing injury led her to music, where she found her true calling and life’s purpose.
From writing and recording her first single, Deliver Me, in 1997 to representing Trinidad and Tobago in international music competitions and performing across the Caribbean, China, and Malaysia, she was a shining example of dedication and talent. As a past winner of the Miss T&T Talent competition and a long-time member of the renowned band Divine Echoes, her voice resonated across generations, bringing joy to all who heard her.
On the news of her passing, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Senator the Honourable, Randall Mitchell said “Moricia Cagan’s unwavering passion for the arts and commitment to excellence made her an inspiration to many. She not only honed her craft but also played an integral role in shaping Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural identity. Although we mourn her passing, we celebrate her life and legacy, the Ministry extends heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and the artistic community.
