Venezuela denounces that “independent mission” report is a monument to war propaganda
This Saturday, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, together with the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, spoke out in rejection of the report issued on September 16 by the UN Independent International Mission.
In statements to the media, Foreign Minister Arreaza began his speech by clarifying that the United Nations Human Rights Council approves resolutions which have cooperation mandates, and that are in coordination with the member states.
“There are two resolutions, one on cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet and her office -approved in 2018, ratified in 2019 and which we aspire to be renewed this year-, which is working on the ground with its setbacks and advances, but in any case it is the one that the Venezuelan State endorses, and another resolution that arises from the aggression of the self-styled Lima Group and cartelized countries, led from Washington to bomb and dynamite the work of the office and its cooperation with Venezuela”, said the Foreign Minister.
Venezuela participates in the ALBA-TCP coordination videoconference in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
This Friday, the Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Alexander Yánez, chaired the telematic coordination meeting on Climate Change with the countries of the ALBA-TCP Group before the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The high-level call was attended by Focal Points, Heads of Delegation and Chief Negotiators from Cuba, Dominica, Grenada and Nicaragua, countries that together with Venezuela make up the group for the agreement in multilateral negotiations.
Bolivarian Government strengthens cooperation with U.N. representatives to Venezuela
Executive Vice-president Delcy Rodríguez held on Friday an important meeting with representatives of the United Nations System and the representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to Venezuela, Pier Paolo Balladelli.
Dr. Balladelli, also head of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau (PASB) mission, will continue joining efforts with the Bolivarian Government to set up working plans and cooperation on health amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The UN System has been key to purchase medical supplies to be distributed in all the sentinel healthcare centers in Venezuela. With this meeting, Venezuela continues strengthening cooperation ties with PAHO/WHO representatives and assessing joint strategies to boost health programs for the benefit of the people.
President Maduro ratifies Venezuela’s commitment to 2030 Agenda at UN SDG Moment
In his intervention on Friday at the UN High-Level Virtual Meeting “Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment 2020,” President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ratified the programmatic commitment of his Government to complying with the 2030 Agenda and the comprehensive protection of the Venezuelan people.
The Venezuelan president affirmed that just as the Bolivarian Government complied with the UN Millennium Development Goals, “no imperial aggression, blockade, sanctions will stop Venezuela’s course towards social justice, sustainable development and happiness, as our Commander Hugo Chávez dreamt and our Liberator Simon Bolívar claimed.”
Venezuela and South Africa address issues of bilateral cooperation in multilateral matters
The Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Alexander Yánez, and the Sub-director of Global Governance and Continental Agenda of the Republic of South Africa, Mxolosi Nkosi, held a videoconference with the aim of exploring bilateral cooperation mechanisms in multilateral matters within the framework of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The telematic meeting was conducive to analyzing the world situation generated as a result of the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating consequences for the world, as well as the social, political and economic panorama in Venezuela, after the imposition of coercive measures. unilateral -miscalled sanctions- by the United States and allied governments, which have hindered the supply of food and medicine -among other necessary goods- to the Venezuelan population.
President Maduro Invites the UN To Monitor Upcoming Elections
Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro Monday reaffirmed his invitation to the United Nations to send observers to the parliamentary elections scheduled for December 6. “This year we have elections in Venezuela. It is the twenty-fifth election in 20 years. We have invited the Secretary-General of the United Nations to send a technical mission to accompany the election process to constitute a new National Assembly,” Maduro said
Besides ratifying that the upcoming elections will be held without foreign interference, the Bolivarian leader assured that Venezuelans will elect their parliamentarians in a sovereign, free, and democratic manner.
Through a videoconference, the Venezuelan president took part in the special session for the 75 years of the United Nations System, which was created at the end of WW2. “If the world defeated fascism 75 years ago, the world will defeat those who want to impose themselves as the dominant hegemon. It will defeat imperialist ideas and neo-fascism.” Maduro said.
