The telematic meeting was moderated by the Executive Secretary of Alba-TCP, Sacha Llorenti, who considered it a real privilege that this first virtual meeting of the Alliance on sports coincided with the bicentenary of the glorious Battle of Pichincha, “in which the liberator Antonio José de Sucre commanded troops from all the latitudes of our America against the Spanish empire and achieved the freedom of the part of Gran Colombia that is now the Republic of Ecuador”.
He recalled that Commander Hugo Chávez said that sport transforms individuals and “I am convinced that through sport we can build a new homeland, a society with humanist values and social justice”.
