A man being held in the Caribbean has been arrested in the 2006 murder of a 16-year-old Brooklyn girl.
The victim, Chanel Petro Nixon, vanished on Father’s Day 2006. Her body was found in a garbage bag four days later.
A grand jury has now indicted the 29-year-old Veron Primus, who was long suspected in her death.
He is currently on St. Vincent, an island in the Caribbean, where he is has been in police custody since April 21st on unrelated murder and kidnapping cases.
NYPD detectives traveled to St. Vincent to interview him in April and May.
Primus is formerly of Brooklyn. He was three years older than Nixon, and knew her from school and church.
The Brooklyn District Attorney will discuss the indictment at noon on Wednesday.
