Student-Athletes Burkheart Ellis, Jr. (Sr./Raleigh, NC) and Jumonne Exeter (So./St. Vincent), and Head Coach George Williams of Saint Augustine’s University were honored by the CIAA on Monday, April 18, 2016. Ellis was named Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Runner of the Week, Exeter was chosen Men’s Outdoor Track and Field-Field Athlete of the Week and Williams was selected Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Week.
Ellis won the 200-Meter Dash in the JCSU Invitational two weeks ago in a provisional qualifying time of 20.99. It is the seventh-fastest time in Division II and the fastest time in the CIAA this season. This is the second straight week that Ellis has captured the weekly honor.
Exeter won the triple jump in the JCSU Invitational with a provisional qualifying mark of 49-6.5. He currently ranks second in the CIAA in the triple jump and long jump this season. This is the first weekly outdoor accolade for Exeter.
Coach Williams guided the Falcons to three victories (200 dash, long jump, triple jump) and 16 top-10 finishes in the JCSU Invitational. The legendary coach has captured the honor three consecutive weeks. His Falcons and Lady Falcons are both ranked No. 1 nationally in Division II for the second straight week.
