A number of Vincentian nationals have been arrested and charged for the year so far in foreign nations for the importation and trafficking of either marijuana or cocaine.
A high percentage has been men in their 20’s and surprisingly up to age 70. The number of women arrested for drug trafficking is significantly less, their ages span between 25 to 40.
Figures indicate that as of August 31st, 2016, 25 Vincentians have been arrested – 2 females and 23 males.
These countries include Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, St. Lucia, Jamaica, and the United Kingdom.

In neighboring Grenada, the head of that country’s Drug Squad, Superintendent Rodriquez James says, that although being satisfied with the continued success of the men under his command, he had some concern over the frequency in which attempts are being made by Vincentian nationals to smuggle illegal drugs into the island.
James believes that there is an upsurge in the quantity of marijuana being brought to Grenada from the neighboring island.
