The World Pediatric Project has received a cheque valued US $57, 971 from the Grenadines Partnership Fund.
On Monday this week, Richard Moulton, Director of the United States-based charitable organization, handed over the cheque to Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne, who accepted the donation on behalf of the WPP.
The presentation was made at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
This donation would be used for the purchase of an updated GE Vivid I ultra-portable hi- performance cardiovascular ultrasound system , which is used to identify children with congenital heart disease along with rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease.
The WPP is a charitable organization which provides free health care to children from St Vincent and the Grenadines and the rest of the Caribbean, with St Vincent being the main hub of operations.
The movement started some 13 years ago when Sir Frederick was fundamental in having some of his medical colleagues travel here to provide care for sick children.
Over the years, the WPP has provided free health care for thousands of children at a value of more than three Million dollars.
